For the long weekend...

Tomorrow, and tomorrow...
Tuesday, at the end of class, your "My Ideal Home" project is due. We'll be in the writing lab all class, but you should have a good plan about what you're going to do before then.
Wednesday, we'll be having a quiz on Vocab Unit 11 (words 1-10). As per normal, flashcards will be collected for credit.
See you then.

For the weekend...and next week.
Due this Tuesday, the 18th of March:
Write a one (1) page paper describing what your ideal house would look like. I’m interested in what sort of rooms, color, shape, style, and so forth. Things to keep in mind:
• Be specific. Details, as always, will be rewarded.
• Organize. Make sure you describe things in an order that makes sense.
•Explain. Details are great, but to succeed on this assignment, you need to explain the why of your choices.
Also, you’ll need to include a drawing of your ideal home. This should be colorful- I’m not looking for a pen drawing on lined notebook paper done in homeroom. If you like, you can use collage, computer graphics, markers, photography, or whatever other creative means you’d like. This needs to be 2D. Please no models of the house. Keep your drawings sized to standard letter paper (8.5" by 11").

I'm thinking about Friday- is that bad?
Monday, March 10, 2008
It's Monday night, and I'm posting here.
Friday, March 7, 2008
For Wednesday the 12th...
...you'll be drawing a map of the neighborhood the narrator lives in. There are a few things to keep in mind:
• You won't need to do any additional reading for this. We're up to page 22.
• Please use standard sized paper (8.5" by 11").
• You should label in as much detail as you can.
• The use of color, pictures, collage and whatever other creative outlets you want is not only fine, but encouraged.
We'll compare these in class on Wednesday.

Vocab Quiz 10 (words 11-20)
Hello Blog People.
We'll be having a Vocab Quiz on Unit 10, words 11-20 on Friday the 7th.
As always, flashcards are due. I posted this site a few days ago, but I'll link it again here to make things easier. As I said before, I'm not mandating that you'll use this to make cards, I present it only as an option.
We'll be carrying on in The House On Mango Street after the quiz, so be sure to bring your book.

Homework for Thursday the 6th
Hello everyone in the blogosphere.
For Thursday the 6th, you need to:
• Read up through page 20 (if you haven't already...)
• Explain in at least 5 sentences why the music box is not for sale.
In answering this question, you might look at this page. It's not an answer, but it might give you a perspective to work with.
As per always, you should be ready for a quiz on pages 19-20. I'm not saying you'll have one, but I'm saying you might.

Moving on.
Hello all.
For Wednesday, you are to have read pages 11-16 in The House on Mango Street, and to have completed a Golden Line. The quick re-touch on what a Golden Line is:
•Choose a line from the reading that, for whatever reason, held the most meaning for you.
•Write this line, including the page number on a sheet of paper.
•Explain, in your own words and with as much detail as possible, why you chose this line.
Note: I do not want summary. I know what happens in the story- I want to know why you chose the line.
Also- We'll be having a Vocab quiz on words 11-20 in Unit 10 on Wednesday of next week. Flashcards will be collected then. That said, you might find this site useful in the making of those flashcards. Not a requirement, but something I thought might be useful.
